Doug Kamo Dec. 18, 1949 - Sept. 29, 2015

Doug Kamo, 65 of Vale, Oregon passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center; after a brave and lengthy fight with cancer.

Doug was born December 18, 1949, in Ontario, Oregon; the son of Tom and Kimiko Kamo.

He was raised in Vale, and graduated from Vale High School; class of 1968.

Shortly after High School he attended Oregon State University, where he earned his Bachelors degree in Agricultural Sciences.

After graduating from Oregon State, Doug met and married the love of his life, Bonnie Michaelis, in 1985 and together they raised two wonderful children.

Doug was a lifetime farmer; he and his brother Gary Kamo started Kamo Farms Incorporated in 1976.

Doug was a very active member in the community serving as a secretary for the Malheur County Potato Bargaining Association, and a member of the Vale School Board, as well as a Local board member for Vale High School’s FFA Chapter.

Some of Doug’s passions included fishing, bowling, hunting, and his family.He is survived by his dear wife Bonnie of Vale; a son, Thomas and his wife Victoria of Parma, a daughter Samantha and her cat Ron, grandchildren Easton, Wylei, and Everly; brothers Ray and Gary Kamo and his wife Nancy, and their children.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents.

Doug was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, farmer and dear friend. He touched many lives and will be missed by many.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday at the Vale Elementary School in Vale, Oregon; starting at 4 pm.
