LaVonna “Bonnie" Peterson   December 14,1924 - September 12, 2015

LaVonna  Peterson, 90,  of Vale, Ore., passed away peacefully on  Sept. 12th at the  Pioneer Place care facility in Vale.

She was born in Vale on Dec. 14, 1924, to Glenn and Loretta Mansur.  Bonnie grew up in Vale with her sisters, Phyllis, Avanelle and Nelda.

In 1956, Bonnie married Lester Peterson. They later adopted two sons, Jerry and Bob Peterson.

During World War II, she worked in the shipyards in Vancouver, Wash., building aircraft carriers. Later, Bonnie worked for many years at Vale High School and loved what she did.  She also volunteered many hours at the Senior Citizen Center and at Vale Elementary School.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband and both her sons;  survived by her grandson, Ryan Peterson, and her granddaughter, Lindsey Peterson.

Graveside memorial service was held on Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Valley View Cemetery in  Vale.  Following the ceremony, a Celebration of Life reception was held at the Christian Church in Vale.
