Kirt S Adams - June 12, 1951 - May 18, 2022

Kirt Schall Adams, of Fruitland, passed away on May 18, 2022, after suffering a stroke on April 23, 2022.   

Kirt was born June 12, 1951 in Ontario, Oregon, the son of Ernest and Fay Adams.  He was a farmer most of his life on the family’s century farm east of Vale, Oregon which was established in 1881 by his great grandfather. After his graduation from Vale High School in 1969, where he held several athletic records, he received a full ride athletic scholarship to the University of Wyoming for football.   

Later he became a repo man for US Bank in Ontario and then an agricultural loan officer.  At the bank he met his wife Rosie and they owned the Sears store in Vale for several years. Kirt and his family raised pheasants and hosted a private shooting preserve on the farm for many years.  In 2007, Kirt became an RN and was a nurse until he retired in 2017.  In his spare time, Kirt liked to lift weights. He was known for deadlifting and has received numerous awards from weightlifting competitions.  

He is survived by his wife Rose Mary, Fruitland, their children Joey Adams (wife Kelsi and their children Antonio and Avery) and Melisa Adams (children Muriel, Genevieve and Abram) of Ontario, and his sister, Sue Montgomery of Sammamish, WA.  

He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Fay Adams and sister Arminta Adams.  

Graveside memorial services will be on Saturday June 4, 2022, at 10:00 at Evergreen Cemetery in Ontario.  Following the service there will be a potluck gathering at Malheur Butte Baptist Church, and food will be provided, to share stories and reminisce about the “Beast of the Valley”.
