David Castleberry - Class Of 1961

David Arnold Castleberry

July 2, 1943 - Dec. 7, 2016

David fought his last battle at home with his family in Vale, Oregon.

On July 2, 1943, David was bon to William C. and Alberta (Birdie) A. (Hartz) Castleberry. He was raised and educated in Vale, OR. During his senior year of high school, he met Joyce Cameron. They married the fall of 1961, and had 55 wonderful years together.

During that time, Peggy, David, William and Calvin came into their lives to make it even more wonderfu1.  In Dec. of '61, David enlisted in the USAF. They traveled from California to Alaska and Alaska to Georgia with several other duty stations in between, meeting a lot of great people along the way in his 20 years of service.

Then they returned to Vale to help with family. David worked at Warm Springs Irrigation District in several departments, ending up as manager. He worked with OR Water Re-sources and was a lifetime member. He was on the City Council for over seven years and was Mayor for a short time, retiring because of health problems.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Wayne (Joan), Bill (Ester) and Kenneth, 2 sons, David and William.

He is survived by his wife Joyce of Vale; daughter Peggy (Bill) Pulley of Star, ID; Son Calvin (Deborah) of Vale;  five grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

We will have a celebration of life on the lst of April at the Legion Hall at 12p.m. in Vale.
