Jon Allison Hall

Sept. 12, 1958 - March 21, 2018

Jon was born September 12, 1958, fifth child to Douglas and Margery Hall of Vale. He entered into rest on March 21, 2018. Jon attended Willowcreek Elementary and Vale High School, graduating in 1976. Growing up, some of his favorite hobbies were basketball, tennis, and spending time in the outdoors.

At age 17 he attended Bible College in Michigan followed by missionary training and linguistic school where he met Cathy, his wife of 37 years. Together they served as missionaries to the Karenni people in Thailand from 1982 through 1997, during which time they had three children, Shannon, Amy, and Andy. Jon was passionate about sharing the Gospel and translating scripture into the Karenni language.

In 1997 he moved with his family to Amarillo where he worked for UniFirst while earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. He then began working at Amarillo College while continuing his work translating the Bible and ministering to the immigrant Karenni Church.

Jon is survived by Cathy Reeves Hall of Amarillo, Texas, Shannon and Dibrell Kirk of Spearman, Texas, Amy and Clint Anderson of Denver Colorado, Andrew and Meaghan Hall of Amarillo Texas, and 6 grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Kathy Weil of Burns, Oregon and Rose Sparks of Emmett, Idaho as well as brothers Steve Hall of Vale, Oregon and Ed Hall of Tangent, Oregon along with multiple nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was held in Amarillo on March 24, 2018.
