Darrell Dee Standage, 87, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Saint Alphonsus Hospital in Ontario, Oregon.

Darrell was born November 12, 1930 in Poole, Nebraska to Ellwood and Effie Standage. At an early age, Darrell’s family moved from Hazard, Nebraska to Vale, Oregon in 1946. There, Darrell graduated from Vale Union High School and then on to two years of college at the College of Idaho, graduating at the age of 17. In 1951, Darrell married Doris Boren and to that marriage was born four children including Ronda, Robert (Bob), Patricia (Patty) and Tami. Darrell drove fuel truck for Farmer’s Supply Co-op, and trapped muskrats after work to pay for their first-born child. Later, he partnered up with his brother Dorrance in farming and years later farmed individually. Darrell’s favorite yearly adventure was hunting deer, duck, and geese, and fishing as a backup, when time allowed from farming and attending meetings. Darrell was always involved in community organizations starting out as a granger at the Vale hall, Board member of NW Farm Credit Services, Chairman of the Malheur County Soil and Water Conservation District for over 48 years and many others.

Darrell is survived by his brother Dorrance, sister Nancy, daughters Ronda Zigler, Patty (Jerry) Harmon, Tami (John) Stout, daughter-in-law MaryAnn, grandchild Michelle, four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his father Ellwood, mother Effie, his wife Doris of 67 years, son Bob, and grandson Matthew.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 25th, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Vale Christian Church. Graveside services will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Vale, Oregon.

The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Al’s hospital, Encompass Home Health, and the many others that cared for and supported our beloved father. He will be dearly missed.
