Richard A. “Radio Dick” Thompson

Richard A. “Radio Dick” Thompson, age 76, was called to be with Our Lord on Thursday, the 4th of April, 2019, at Ashley Manor Memory Care in Ontario, Oregon.

Dick is survived by his wife, Jackie, two children, Angie and Tom, and eight grandchildren, Tyler and wife Mickayla, Levi, Makenzee, Isabella, Rylie, Eliana, and Thomas Jr., Sister Linda and husband Jim, one niece Stacy, one nephew Dustin, one great-neice and three great-nephews and preceded in death by his best friend, “Uncle Red.”

Dick grew up in Vale, Oregon, son of Glen and Hazel Thompson, and after graduating from Vale High School, he joined the United States Navy. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served honorably with the Navy as a communications technician for four years. He then joined the Bureau of Land Management, working as a communications specialist for more than 40 years, retiring in 2004, having helped with many BLM projects.

Besides being a family man, Dick was a friend and confidante to many in the community. He will be remembered as a loving and kind Christian, whose sense of fairness and strong work ethic left every life he touched a little better for having known him.

Celebration of life will be held Friday May 3, at 3 p.m. at Vale Christian Church, 450 W. Main St., in Vale. Potluck dinner to follow.
