In Memory

James Ronald "Ron" Johnson - Class Of 1958

James Ronald “Ron” Johnson - Sept. 10, 1940 – April 19, 2019

Ron was born at home Sept. 10, 1940, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the eldest child of George Hampton and Marjorie Hinkle Johnson. By 1948 siblings Sharon, Wm. Joe and Gary Lee Johnson had also arrived to complete the family.

Over the years the Johnson children attended schools in Oklahoma, California and Oregon.

Vale, Oregon finally became home; the four younger Johnsons attended and graduated from

Vale Union High School.

In August 1957, Ron married Rosalie Kendall; the family of two eventually became a family of seven as Kimberly, Matthew, Shannon, Tracy and Stephanie arrived.

During his lifetime Ron was employed by: Vale Brick Yard, Albertson’s, Inc., Bully Creek Dam,

John Denenk Accounting, Malheur Drug/Sporting Goods, then owned by Joe and Thelma Buttice, Standard Oil, George Johnson Construction, & Insulation Contractor. When traveling around our immediate area Ron would usually announce “I worked on that house...and that house, and that one over there, as well.” Ron was dedicated to a high standard where his professions were concerned, always striving to complete his assignment precisely as directed.

Ron attained a degree in accounting, becoming a Certified Accountant in 1965.

He was a guy who enjoyed being around animals, being especially proud of his registered Angus stock he raised and marketed while residing at his rural Vale home.

Ron was predeceased by his grandparents, his parents, George and Marjorie Johnson, In-laws Marie and Lincoln Kendall and their year-old son, James Lincoln Kendall, his favorite Aunt, Dayna Martin, nephew Nathaniel Lee Johnson, beloved son of Gary and Anita, former business partner Steven Netcher, dear friend and former classmate, Dennis E. Fulk, and most recently Ron’s second-born child and only son, James Matthew Johnson.

Acknowledgements of special appreciations to Tom and Carol Harrod who steadfastly and generously gave of their time visiting Ron at his care center. Honorable mention as well to former classmates: “the Gary’s”...Fugate as well as the late (great) Gary Smith, both of whom seldom came to visit without bringing an elegant box of chocolates! These thoughtful caring ways will forever be remembered by us: Ron’s family, one and all.

A funeral service to commemorate Ron’s life will be May 10, at 11 a.m. at Vale’s Christian

Church, the Rev. Phil Abbott officiating. Lunch will be provided following this service.

Mid-afternoon Internment will be at Vale’s Valley View Cemetery.

A huge thank you to the wonderful staff at Ashley Manor/Meadowbrook for the outstanding care and attentions extended to Ron, as well as members of his family throughout his residence there.
