School Story:
This wasn't at all funny at the time, but it is funny now looking back on it. I got kicked out of VHS in 1970, my junior year, for a short skirt. Remember how they scoped the girls out in the lunch line and if you were suspect, your name got on the list for measuring that day, and you got called out of 6th period for the reckoning? But my skirt wasn't too short- my grandmother had to make all my clothes to meet the skirt length policy because you couldn't buy anything that long in the mini skirt era. But Miss S. measured and flunked me on skirt length and my parents weren't willing to play the games to reinstate me... so, off I went to Baker and then to Eugene for my senior year where I graduated. I heard at some point after I left, the boys got to grow their hair long and the girls got to wear short skirts and all hell broke loose. Sounds like I missed some fun!
